Build a Myth box video from Systm

Systm is the name of a show created by former TechTV hosts and made available online. It's a lot like the old Screensavers show before the G4 buyout of the network. The newest episode features a how-to on building your own Myth box. Downloads of the episode require bittorrent, but the show's free and worth checking out. [via Make zine]

Snapstream's Digital Living Room Showcase

Snapstream has recently launched their Digital Living Room Showcase, featuring shots of home theater PC setups from their users.

I'm most impressed with how they're going about finding interesting HTPC setups, by using Flickr to setup a group pool for it. There are lots of interesting setups, but their first feature is definitely the best one out there.

Also new to me is their company blog, featuring news and tips about snapstream products. If you're an owner of BeyondTV software, I'd say this is a new site worth watching.

TiVo ToGo going mobile

There were vague stories last week about TiVo and chipmakers coming to agreements regarding TiVo ToGo, and it seems that's now bearing fruit. Today TiVo ToGo gains Windows Mobile support.

For now that's a delivery on the promises of what TiVo showed at CES early this year but the cool thing about Windows Mobile is that eventually TTG will also work in various PDAs and cellphones with the Windows Mobile operating system. There are several smart phones out in the US market, and plenty of PocketPCs out there, so hopefully a device compatibility list is revealed soon that includes the major brands. Fire up your TiVos

Now that the broadcast TV season is behind us, the summer is when cable starts to shine, boosting their audience numbers by waiting to debut new episodes after the major networks are done. HBO is launching the final season of Six Feet Under tonight, and the second season of Entourage is coming soon. The Discovery Channel is loaded with new episodes starting tonight (Monster Garage, American Chooper). More cable offerings are sure to follow.

Fox isn't entirely missing the boat, with six more episodes of Family Guy to dish out this summer, along with the new American Dad series. They're also looking to repeat the American Idol trend, but with dancing this time out.

Akimbo review: Engadget

Engadget has a full review of Akimbo including screenshots and a rundown of features. It sounds like it has promise as an IPTV set top box, with a full featured OS and friendly interface, but looks like it'll come into its own once more programming is available.
