DivX's Apple TV, but smarter

Divx Nice preview of DivX’s set top box, which really could be an AppleTV killer (720p output, plays DivX, streams video from networked PCs) especially if they can bring the price down to a reported $99. They've also announced an open plugin/API for the device.

Yeah, and every MP3 player after the iPOD was the iPOD killer, and Vista was OS X killer, and ...

I have very pleased with my Phillips DVP5960 but this looks to be much more user friendly for a reasonable price. What would be really cool (at least for me) is a DVD player and set-top box combined.

$99 is quite a sweet spot for this app. Then again, I've been buying old XBox units for $40 to use for the very same network streaming, so there are cheaper alternatives.

I have been beta testing one of these puppies for months and it is great. I would have been willing to pay more than $100 for it. It does HD wonderfully even over wireless.

hey thats pretty freekin nifty
