« Wild rumor: DirecTV reps claiming TiVo coming to DirecTV DVRs | Main | NBC leaving iTunes, hitching to Amazon's wagon »
Over on the Snapstream blog, they announced Beyond TV 4.7 Beta. If you're a PC user with an iPhone or iPod, this sounds like a pretty nice way to automatically pull down your recorded shows to your handheld device each night.
iPhone owners with a Mac can continue to use EyeTV to pull down analog cable or OTA TV, and automate moving new shows to your device.
If I still had a 90 minute daily train commute, I would be all over these devices. Catching up on the previous night's shows each day would almost make going to work fun.

makes a good program even better.
i used beyondtv for several months earlier this year, and was very impressed. in some way, its interface (and certainly its functionality) is superior to tivo. i eventually gave up on windows altogether, so that was it for me and beyondtv, but i enjoyed it. my only problem with it is that it didn't support the mpeg4 hardware encoding that my plextor convertx offered, so i was stuck with mpeg2.

To clarify our "support" for the iPhone, we've add H.264 support and we've RSS-enabled Beyond TV as well. So from any PC (or Mac for that matter) running iTunes on your home network, you can subscribe to Beyond TV recordings like you can subscribe to any video podcast. Then, everytime your iPhone, iPod, or Apple TV syncs with iTunes, your latest Beyond TV recordings get automatically synched as well.
