Amazon Unbox now directly on TiVo

This is good news, you can now access Amazon Unbox directly from your couch and buy/rent movies using your TiVo remote. You have to set a PIN here, and enter that PIN whenever you purchase anything. Of course, you will have to wait anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour before your entire movie gets downloaded, but it sure beats running to a computer anytime you're thinking of wanting to download something to your TV. Not even the AppleTV allows for direct purchases and downloads from the couch.

Has anyone posted screens of this interface yet?

I wonder if perhaps TiVo is blocking this new service for their Canadian clients. I have a TiVo Unbox account and a Amazon PIN however I do not see the Unbox menu selection under Find Programs.

Actually, I forced a refresh of my TiVo OS and now the Unbox selection is available. Yay! No anti-Canadian conspiracy (yet).

Does this apply to DirecTivo customers as well?

Nope, as always, DirecTiVo customers are left out of any new TiVo features.

I'm glad to see new features on TiVo, even if it doesn't work with my DirecTiVo units.

With that said, a similar service has been available on the Xbox 360 since last November.

You can purchase new items from your TV, but if you want to download something you have already purchased you have to use a computer to access your media library.

I e-mailed Amazon to make sure I wasn't missing something - and they replied very quickly. They said that accessing your media library via the TV/TIVO was not available yet. It is something they are working on according to the e-mail.

Nice. My Netflix account is looking less and less appealing these days.

The TiVoCast section on my TiVo is sloooooow. It takes about 45 seconds to navigate through each menu item, never mind browsing the movie list.

My DSL connection is pretty snappy, and my wireless strenght is always EXCELLENT.

In fact, it's better for me to keep using Unbox the way it started: by ordering movies at work and having it download as I drive home.

Amazon Unbox has definite possibilities. I am about done with waiting for Netflix. The fact that this is built in to Tivo is pretty impressive!

I just got the Tivo DT and its great.
works like a charm.

As for the Amazon unBox thing, I have had limited success (As I am in Canada)

Ive bought movies, on the unBox website, as well as through the Tivo on screen application.

Only 1 thing showed up in my NowPlaying list.

I thought maybe it was a fluke, so I deleted that file, and tried that one again (they are only $.99 each, figured a few bucks to test is worth it) but this time it didnt show up.

any thoughts as to why this is happening? or is there some work around I should be doing?

thanks

is that a feature on a reserver or a TV?

I too have linked amazon & tivo accounts, and downloaded 3 different movies. they all say they have been downloaded onto my tivo when i go onto amazon -- however, none of them have shown up on my tivo, even 36 hours later. No idea why.
