Thanks to a price slash and a $200 rebate, it looks like the Series 3 HD TiVo is finally in that coveted $300-500 range at Amazon, who is selling it for $406.95. If you've been waiting for a price break, this sounds like the best deal possible, given the news that they're working on a cheaper model with less features. [thanks Lance!]

"(3) New TiVo service* or TiVo PlusTM service* (on DVD products) activation required..."
Does this mean I can't get the rebate if I have a series 2?

No, you can still get it if you have a Series 2. It just means that you have to activate service on the box.
Also, you can try the TiVo Community store:

They're at $399.99 if you like that sort of thing.

*sigh* I would get this for this price BUT, comcast is supposedly opening up the Comcast/TiVo unit in August in Boston and luckily for me, I'm in beantown.
now if tivo couls just convince SONY that $600 is a ridiculous price for a game system, we'd be all set.
