TiVoDecode Manager: TiVoToGo for the Mac
Those of you using a Series 2 TiVo and owning a mac probably read the previous post with interest. Well, a few days later and now TiVoDecode Manager presents a nice GUI for getting video off your TiVo and onto your mac.

FYI, version 1.1 was just released today. It includes many bug fixes, and also the highly-requested feature of batch processing. I hope you find it useful!

While I appreciate the effort, it does not run on a G4 machine. V 1.1 would open, but freeze at the download section... this new version opens, then the GUI interface disappears, and the only way to quit is to force quit. Looking forward to a revision...

Awesome app! FINALLY we can move things off the TiVo. Thanks for making this.

Haven't been able to use this on my Intel iMac. Keep getting Applescript errors with each revision. Latest one is:
Can't get item 6 of {""}. (-1728)
Hopefully this will eventually work for me, but I have no idea what any of that means.

Works great, but how do I get it on my iPod.
I think VLC can convert the video to a compatible format but what are the correct settings.

I also get the error message
"Can't get item 6 of {""}. (-1728)"
I'm using a G5 running 10.4.8

I think this app was written for Intel Macs, not PPCs.... hopefully it will be fixed. If written for PPCs it would run on Intel macs under Rosetta...

Running under Rosetta on the Intel iMac still has same error.

To get the video on the iPod, download the free program iSquint. It works great. It'll convert from .mpg to whatever the iPod uses (.m4v or something). I don't have a video iPod so I can't say for sure, but it plays in iTunes now.

Yeah, I wrote about iSquint here:

It works great for this sort of thing.

Does not working very well under the latest beta of Leopard. Just continues to download with no stopping in sight. But also could be the latest version of Tivo 8.x it doesn't like...

Anyone else having problems downloading a show from your Tivo -- via your browser (Safari or Firefox) or this program? My downloads stop at about 800kb... I never had this problem before...

Works great here on my PM G5, OS X 10.4.8. Thanks!

Is there any way to get this to work on a DirecTV/Tivo combo unit that has USB ports?

Running under Rosetta on the Intel iMac still has same error.

It worked fine for my G4 1.5 ghz 12" powerbook. The only thing I didn't like was it didn't tell you when it was done downloading. I had to keep checking the file info.

Next question-- how can I edit out the commercials?

Using 1.1.6 and previous versions, I can connect to my Tivo and see my programs but nothing downloads. In previous version I at least got the shows icon but it was 0 kb, now I get nothing. Anyone else have this issue?

I had the same issue with v1.1 -- none of the other versions would even open up for me.
I also have the same issue when I try to download via a browser. I've heard there is an issue with the 8.1 Tivo s/w update that won't allow some folks to download shows. It's pretty widespread. More on that here: http://forums.tivo.com/pe/action/forums/displaypost?postID=10281514

Everyone:
Thanks for your patience. Versions 1.2 and higher fix *a lot* of problems. The feedback has been very positive and I encourage everyone to upgrade.

10.4.8 MacBook Pro, program runs, is able to see the TiVo and pull up a file listing, but downloads don't seem to do anything. No error pop-ups or similar.
I was able to manually download via Safari and then the included tivodecode binary was able to convert it, so I'm not sure what isn't working.
Is there any way to enable debugging info to see what might not be working right?

Version 2 is even better! From TIVO straight to iTunes and my iPod. All versions have worked perfectly on my almost obsolete G4 dual.

It seems to work under 10.5.2, but the resulting mpg file is not recognized by anything I have. Are you using something else to convert it?
