Reuters on free TiVo boxes with higher monthly costs

This is weird, a Reuters article from today saying that TiVo may try out that free TiVo for $4/month extra deal they launched in November may be coming back.

But if you follow the link in the old November post, the offer still stands and I see a free TiVo in my cart ready for checkout. So if you wanted to give this a go, it looks like it never went away.

Fine print reads:
"Offer valid between 11/8/2005 and 11/29/2005 for eligible customers, while supplies last, who subscribe to the TiVo service for at least twelve (12) consecutive months at the rate of $16.95 per month."

You're right that we failed to take the page down, and Grant is correct that today you're outside of the valid offer date range. We'll be taking the page down now, but we wouldn't have fulfilled orders from that page regardless. If you're interested in this type of pricing, please stay tuned.

I'm still using a Series-1 that's got a lifetime membership. If I can get a new free Tivo with DVD recorded and cable card, I'll take it.

Hey, I just read the other two replies! Too bad, but I'll still take the offer if it comes again.

That's bunk -- they should have honored that deal, even (especially) if it's their mistake for leaving that page up. Shame of TiVo; I'll never go with them for my PVR needs. That's just poor customer service.

Check this out. I ran across this deal when it first came out and furled the link. So last week I checked it out and the site was still up, so I placed my order. I even got a confirmation email. I called about it earlier this week and they said the delay was b/c the units were on backorder. What gives ?
