TiVo Desktop 2.3 Beta Opens

By way of TiVo's own CES news page, they've opened up the TiVo Desktop 2.3 Beta Priority Request Form.

This new release of the desktop client software includes the automatic transcoding of TiVoToGo video into PSP and iPod video formats. TiVo announced this feature a couple months ago which prompted NBC to threaten to sue (a week later, the iTunes Music Store launched NBC shows for $1.99 each, formated for the iPod). Hopefully the rumors of a lawsuit never amount to anything and this new beta goes gold soon, but if you've got a PSP or new video iPod and a newer TiVo, be sure to sign up and get the software early.

And still no Mac OS X support... Grrrrrr!

If Apple releases the rumored Mac mini with dvr, it might be time for my TiVo's farewell party.

Doesn't the compatibility with an iPod still require third party software that was supposed to be around $20? Do Beta testers still have to pay that?
