TiVo fesses up to TiVo ToGo outage, releases fix
The buzz for the past 24 hours on the TiVo Community site has been all about a recent minor update that broke TiVo ToGo and HME functionality for many people. I'm impressed that TiVo has responded in less than a day (on a weekend, no less) with an official admission and patch to restore functionality. Updates should be coming down tonight for those affected by the previous update, and TTG should be back.

The fix has been rolled out to all servers and from numerous reports on the Community forum, the fix works on everyone's machines.
Your description was a little wild regarding the nature and scope of the problem:
1) It wasn't caused by a software update. It was a configuration setting change that came in the everyone's daily download.
2) It did not break HME functionality- it was possible to play files from other Tivos, to view Photos, and to play music.
3) Only the Tivo To Go function (the ability to copy shows to a PC) was affected for a short period of time.
A number of volunteers from the TivoCommunity worked closely with Tivo Operations to isolate the problem in very short order.
It was a stellar performance by Tivo Ops, and an representative example of why customers love their Tivo service.

"Your description was a little wild regarding the nature and scope of the problem"
Sorry about that. It's my fault for distilling down all the reports people emailed me about this. Still, I'm impressed that it all worked out and was cleaned up so quickly, as more often a problem may persist for a week or so before a fix can get rolled out to all. It's great to see the company worked with community members to get the fix out asap.
Though I wonder why the community-released tools for OS X Tiger (10.4) that provide a working TiVo Desktop app haven't been rolled into the official tools?
tivo.com/desktop still says nothing works in Tiger.

Yes, it was a very impressive response on a weekend. I hope this is the new rule and not the exception when dealing with bugs/issues.
Tiger's latest OS update (10.4.2) pretty much "fixes" Tivo Desktop.
Justin Thyme meant HMO, not HME. :)

Yeah, too bad neither Tivo nor DirecTV have fixed the channel changing problem with Series2 Tivos and D10 boxes...
