UPDATE: Circuit City isn't listing any rebates for the 40 hour TiVo anymore. While there have been typos with online sales before, I doubt that's the case here because they had the message "Free after rebates and activation" on the Digital Video Recorders page. If you got in on the deal, enjoy your free TiVo (assuming those rebates come).
Circuit City is giving away free-after-rebate 40 hour TiVos. The $200 units have the normal $100 TiVo rebate and an additional $100 Circuit City rebate resulting in $FREE.
You're skeptical, I can appreciate that. You're looking at the Circuit City page and seeing that there's only one rebate listed. However, if you click the Rebate Details popup you'll see both rebates listed, and Circuit City's Digital Video Recorders page uses the phrase "Free after rebates and activation," so this looks like the real deal. The rebates end on April 23, 2005 and there's no telling when you'll actually get the rebate.

Yeah, it is the real deal. I actually stumbled across this last night while at Circuit City. Needless to say my Series 1 TiVo got replaced last night.

It looks like one of the rebates expires on the 30th, but the other is only valid from April 21-23rd.

If my experience from the Series 2 I bought back in October is any guide, you won't be getting your rebate for another 5 months. Be sure to call and follow up on that TiVo rebate! (I don't know that I've ever bought anything with a rebate from Circuit City before, so I can't say anything about them).

I recently bought something from CC that came with 2 rebates...it took a while but I did get them. Just be careful to read the fine print. I will be checking out this offer ASAP!

I just to the site and the rebates are no longer listed. Anyone notice that?
I viewed the product page earlier and both rebates were listed. Maybe too many people were taking them up on the offer?

As of 4 p.m. today, Circuit City has pulled the refund. Since free goods are bad business, the extra refund was most probably a typo that went unnoticed for a few hours.
Now the big question is whether people still get their refunds, or whether Circuit City pulls some "not responsible for typos" backpedaling.

I called the number on the website and the lady SAID that they had just sold out and that is why the page was removed. Who knows how true that is though. I've never had a problem getting a rebate from CC, and what was on the website looked legit. Just wish I had jumped on it when I first saw it. Congrats to those that did.

TiVo has a better deal for any existing subs who have participated in the referral program. There are a couple different ways to take advantage of the deal (discussed at length on the TiVo Community Board)...
-------------------------------------
How 'bout a free* 140-hour TiVo® box?
It's an exclusive and unprecedented offer ONLY for qualifying TiVo Rewards™ members like you, who've made successful referrals to the amazing TiVo® service. Think of it as a surprise reward (valued at $249.99!) -- and you spend NO TiVo Points™! It's our way of thanking you for making TiVo Rewards so successful.
Get a FREE 140-hour TiVo® Series2™ box with the purchase of a 12 month TiVo service gift subscription ($155.40)*. Just think of the gifting possibilities: Mother's Day. Father's Day. Graduation presents. Weddings. New parents. And YES, you keep ALL of your TiVo Points.

I bought the 40-hour model online today and picked it up at my local CC.
At the store, they were advertising that the TiVO is basically free (actually, you get 1 cent back) right on the shelf.
When I picked up the unit, I got no rebate coupons. The woman told me to go online.

I picked mine up tonight at the local store. They had a palette of them right in the entry and a big sign advertising them for free. The sales clerk printed out the rebate forms for both the TiVo and Circuit City rebates as well as two extra copies of the receipt. The real question is: will I get my money back?

I ordered mine online at 9am on the 22nd, I've never ordered anything off of Circuit City online before so I'm not sure if I'll get a notice when it ships or not. Luckily I printed out all my rebate forms yesterday while they were still on the site and digitally submitted the circuit city rebate pending the mail-in portion. If the TiVo doesn't come or the rebate is no good I'm going to be upset. I ordered this TiVo for my mom's birthday in mid-May, so long as it arrives by then she'll be happy with the TiVo and happy I got such a deal!
Also- I've done Circuit City rebates before and it's always been a very easy, fairly quick and painless process. Let's hope this is the same!

"If you got in on the deal, enjoy your free TiVo (assuming those rebates come)."
Or enjoy owning Circuit City if they don't.

I ran (as fast as my cane would let me) to my local CC.
The pricing sticker on the shelf showed final cost to be -$.01 after rebates. Meaning, I should make one cent with this deal, rather than spend $199.99.
Meaning, $100 rebate from Tivo and $100 rebate from CC.
I bought one. Turned out it was their last one in stock (not the shelf/demo model).
The register printed out a sales receipt and two rebate slips.
Yowza!! What more could anyone ask?

I called a bunch of the CC's near my house. They're all sold out!
One salesguy did say they expected to have some more "in a week."

I bought a 40 hour Series 2 TiVo from Amazon. Sent in the rebate in December, and JUST received it last week (late March). SLOWEST rebatee I've ever had to wait for.

My brother and I was discussing my need to buy TIVO on Thursday night and, on Friday, he must have seen the offer and e-mailed me a link to pvrblog. I immediately went online (on Friday morning) and saw the rebate offer at CC's site. When I went online again on Saturday at about 8 am, the offer was no longer there and they did not even show any 40 hour units for sale at all (at any price). I called my local CC when they opened at 10 am and they had one unit left but would not sell it to me over the phone or hold it. I finally convinced the manager to hold it if I were to hop in my car and drive over.
Sure enough, the TIVO unit was set aside for me and when I paid the $199, the cashier handed me two $100 rebate forms (one from TIVO and one from CC) with two duplicate receipts. Let's see how long it takes to receive my money but I was very happy to be able to get in on the deal during that limited time. THANKS BRO AND THANKS PVRBLOG

Woo hoo..I just got the shipment notification for Circuit City. I ordered mine online Friday morning and pre-filled out the rebate info pending submission of hard copies. Once I heard they pulled the rebate and were sold out I was very nervous that my order would be cancled or placed on backorder. Thankfully it shipped today and should be here in time for Mothers Day!

Geez...
You posted rebate for TIVO but you failed to post about ReplayTV rebate. They are offering several rebates on all their products right now.
