TiVo Community Forum Down
The largest TiVo community site for tips and help from other users, TiVo Community Forum, is currently down due to server load problems, but the message talks about it being "closed" which isn't a good sign. Hopefully that's just a bad choice of words and the closing isn't permanent. The TiVo Community Forum is a killer resource for TiVo owners old and new and I'd hate to see it go away.
Update: it came back soon after I posted this, but went down again. Hopefully they get things sorted out and the community comes back soon.

working fine at 2.26pm EST feb 8,2005!!!! go tivo

Sorry, but due to server load issues, we needed to close the site. We are looking into the issue.
Thank You.
They don't appear to up right now.

In the last week, it seems as though you have been rather "quick" to post information. Sit back and wait a little while before posting information that you're not sure is correct. I'm close to deleting my bookmark of this page....

Sorry to see Tivo Community down. I tried to get on tonight at 5%55PM CST (2/8/05) and it was down again. :-(

The site's still down, here on the West Coast, at 4:28 PM. this would be a darn shame, it's a great resource for addicted multi-TIVO owners like myself...

"Sit back and wait a little while before posting information that you're not sure is correct. "
I'm just posting the text I see there. They're down, but they use the word "closed" which sounds bad. I'm not speculating on anything, just hoping it comes back because it was a useful thing.

Seriously, that was really a premature post Matt...

The upgrade to the latest Vbulletin version was announced far in advance and went pretty darn smoothly.
The server load issues are irritating but have been there for a long time.

what a premature post with rampant speculation. probably hoping to claim posting some story first.
the words "but the message talks about it being "closed" which isn't a good sign. Hopefully that's just a bad choice of words and the closing isn't permanent. The TiVo Community Forum is a killer resource for TiVo owners old and new and I'd hate to see it go away."
did not appear in the message you so coyly say you were just posting. They definitely innsunuate TCF might be down and leaves you a little wiggle room if they are not.
MY bookmark is deleted

The comments here illustrate just another example of blaming the messenger rather than the message.
"Closed" was a poor choice of words.
"The forum is currently down for scheduled maintenance, and we expect to be back up by 6 a.m. Monday, Jan. xx" is, without a doubt, clear and irrefutable.
How and what you say is far more critical than anyone's interpretation of it.

Brilliant. My bookmark for pvrblog remains, but has been re-categorized with the likes of the Daily Telegraph and the Sun for its repeated desperate and pathetic attempts to be the first to come up with something brilliantly original (jumping on the anti-TiVo bandwagon there?) even if it is (intentionally) made up and conveniently misinterpreted. While blogs are good and useful and all, its sad when recognized ones start taking their status for granted and lapse into irresponsible posts and forget that they too, are accountable, in the eyes of readers!

There has been a sticky at the top of all the forums for well over a week, letting regular users know that a site upgrade was going to happen. It was originally planned for Saturday, as the administrative note said. There were also threads discussing it in the forum feedback section.
The forum administrator decided he wanted an extra day or two to do some tweaking, so the upgrade was delayed a couple of days.
The morning of the 8th, another announcement was made, saying that the switch-over would happen that day at 2.00 ET. It went extremely well, with minimal bumps and bruises.
A regular visiter to TC would have been aware of all of this, it was hardly a surprise.

All the people bashing this blog, and yet the story is still true it seems. The site isn't back up. All the fan boys attack the messenger..
