Here's a great visual reminder that you won't be able to build a linux-based HDTV personal video recorder after July 1, 2005, thanks to the broadcast flag.
Remember, if you wanted to make a computer-based PVR of your own, better buy that HDTV card before July 1st.

Nope. The broadcast flag won't effect the content at all. It simply tells the decoding hardware/software how to handle the stream. But if the decoding hardware/software (i.e. the pcHDTV card & drivers) ignore the flag, then everything comes through unrestricted. Allowing me to time-shift/record/transcode/copy/backup my hdtv content all I want.

Is there any reason to believe that this broadcast flag won't be hacked and rendered useless like so many other DRM soulutions?
