Lost Remote: Thumbs up for Media Center PCs
It's nice to see the folks at TV blog Lost Remote are singing the gospel for Media Center PCs. If it wasn't so costly to get into a Windows Media Center PC (officially you are supposed to buy a new pre-outfitted PC with it) and if it had better integration with my satellite system, I'd likely be using this over TiVo, for many of the features mentioned by the folks at Lost Remote.

I wish they'd offer XP Media Center Edition ala carte/standalone (well besides on *cough* kazaa or MSDN subscription) instead of only installed on "media center PC's"
After all most of these MCE machines are just slicker looking PC cases with PVR250MCE cards or ATI cards and maybe a bundled remote control.
*shrug*

to anybody who may stumble across this.. I'm not an expert just a curious student who managed to get a bit lucky:
MEDIA CENTER PC FOR NEXT TO NOTHING
you'll need the following -
a good system - maybe 700mhz+
graphics card supporting tv out
all relevent cables
xp media center (available through many torrent sites, or file share programs) "WXPMCE_5IN1.iso" should help you out
HAUPPAUGE WIN TV PVR Card
the trick is to edit the irremote.ini file to adopt all of the keyboard shortcuts - i've been using it for months - its not 100% the real thing but it's CHEAP and i've developed a taste for intergrated media systems - i will most definately invest in a system in the future
