PRNewswire has a piece on how analysis of DVR owners shows that they like their DVRs and when they have more than one TV, they want DVRs on all of their TVs.

Results of the analysis of the survey data showed: (a) a deep and broad interest in Multi-TV DVR among DVR owners, (b) a high correlation between multi-year presence of DVR in a home and consumer interest in obtaining DVR capability throughout the home; and (c) a high correlation between consumer interest in multi-set DVR capability and multi-set ownership.

I agree with the overall direction, but not the means. I would prefer to NOT have 2, 3, (5?) PVR's in the house. Instead, I envision one huge capacity recorder linked to TV's with a high-speed wireless system. That gets by the issue of movable TV's, wanting to see the program recorded at one site in another room (fixed TV), and wanting to have 5+ TV's with only 1-2 satelite converters/dishes (should only need one/person in household.)

Problems include controlling the linkage / content from a remote room (2-way WiFi remote?) and keeping older TV's usable under the new system. I envision the last addressed by a movable WiFi link that just plugs into one of the cable feeds for a TV. Anyone see something like this on market already? If so, satelite would gain an advantage over cable.

I don't mind spending good money for tech gear - but the requirement that I would have to pay two service fees to Tivo is not acceptable to me. The price is too high in the first place, in my humble opinion.

Well...we're still spending fees each month for each tivo.
