According to Gizmodo, it seems like the Pioneer DVD player/burners with built in TiVo are finally out, after being in the pipeline for several months.

Saw these at Best Buy the other day while I was shopping for another TiVo. Prices seem to vary greatly for even the lower end unit, which clocks in at $705 after rebates if buy it online (discount-electronic.com). Best Buy, on the other hand wanted a whooping $999 for it.

I have the Panasonic 80 GB DVD-R/DVD-RAM that I got for around $550. Attached to my TiVO, In the "XP" mode, it records almost 80 hours at very nice resolution and RAM discs are great. Got a utility to mount in my Mac and I can pull files right off the DVD-R/RAM disc.

Sweet! Where'd you get it for such a low price?

FYI, these are now going on eBay for under $600. I payed just over $700 three months ago, but I still think it was worth it. I'm building a full collection of Seinfeld episodes with the DVD burner--until they release the episodes for sale that alone is worth the price premium!

Will your DVD recorder work with a 5 year old VCR? Best Buy says I need to pay $500 but Nantucket Sound says your DVD recorder will do the trick for $349. True? Please advise.

I'm not super techy,
I've got Tivo but haven't started burning to DVD's yet.
I'm wondering what is the best way to go.
I resently saw the Humax 80 HR TIVO/DVD Recorder all in one.
Is this the best idea?
and how long does it take usually to burn a 2 hr movie?

I have a Panasonic DMR-75,and the hard drive crashed....how do I install a new one and how do I set up the drive???
