Dell To Sell DirecTV DVRs
Starting next month, Dell will begin selling Dell-branded DVRs with DirecTV service. The device looks to be a DirecTiVo receiver and pricing starts at $99 with the usual 1-year service agreement. The move furthers Dell's recent push into the consumer electronics/home media market, adding to other Dell-branded devices such as an iPod-competitor MP3 device and LCD-based televisions.

I wonder if they are planning their own PVR/DVR down there in Round Rock ;)

I'd like to see Tivo work with Motorola on a 4d Tivo for the 4dtv digital/analog c-band satellite system. C-band offers the best picture quality available, but making it work with a Tivo is not as ideal as it could be. (Tivo records whatever satellite channel happens to be on at the Tivoed time.)

The interesting thing from the article (IMHO) is the inter-operability with the DirecTivo...sorry, DirectDVR...units. Presumably they're talking about networking the DirectDVR, an oft-requested feature which is currently unavailable on this little puppies. Hopefully this will mean a new software release for all DirectDVR customers soon (either from DirecTV officially or through the back channel communities!)
