Wired 11.10: The Fast-Forward, On-Demand, Network-Smashing Future of Television

The October 2003 issue of Wired features the article "The Fast-Forward, On-Demand, Network-Smashing Future of Television," all about how recent technical advances are changing networks' business models and what the future may hold for them. There's also an interesting sidebar article about a theme covered here again and again: the shaky future of TiVo as a company.

as the wired article states:
"Navigation is almost the crux of the future of television," says consultant Hanlon. "Not everyone has figured it out yet, but they will."
will television become a video browser with banner ads ???
even the viewable size of the last minutes of some TV programs are subjected to screen squeeze
for sibebar ads. Will a TV program have a disclamer stating the actual screen size minus the ads?
you may need a 46" screen to see a 25" TV program.

Couldn't you just see the disclaimer, "you're screen is not big enough...". Every man in America would love that excuse to tell his significant other, "honey, we need a bigger tv." Todd Lokken.
