Windows Media Center going mobile
I must say it sounds like an odd use of the new Windows XP Home Media Center, but Toshiba is now offering a laptop featuring the OS.
I guess the part that doesn't make sense is that the home media center does stuff like record television and manage a library of music, movies, and photos, but this laptop is portable. Doesn't that defeat the time-shifting if you have to come home to plug your machine so you can tape your favorite show?

I think the benefit of the Media Center being portable would be watching recorded shows while you're on the road or being able to use the remote control and MP3 features as a jukebox at a party. I've long considered getting a Media Center PC, and I don't really watch *any* TV, so perhaps you're being too PVR centric in not understanding the appeal of this machine.

Agree with Anil. Sony has been putting Gigapocket (simple TV capture capabilities) functionality in higher end laptops for a while. This is partly due to the fact that the laptop market is hotter in Japan due to space constraints.

Funny...after I got the media center pc, I just don't have the use for it I thought I would. Todd Lokken.
