« The story of an upgrade | Main | ReplayTV vs TiVo on Captioning »
Niveus has released a Windows Media Center PC that aims to be more of an entertainment unit, than a PC. I've heard from owners of previous media center PCs say that at weird times using the remote in front of a TV, you find a task that requires you to go back to your desk and interact as a computer. It sounds like this company has bundled some of their own software to make the PC moments possible on a TV screen (with a mouse on the remote), though this review seems to find it tedious at best. I've used the Media Center PC quite a bit. We bought one at the office to test and see how well it worked.
When using a Tivo or a Replay the interfaced is based on tradition TV mehtods of info display as hs been seen on cable boxes and DirecTV boxes.
The Media PC never let's you forget you are driving a PC. The whole "My xxx" thing is strange and the responsiveness is slow.
Not to mention the bugs. We got ours in the first month they were out and the PC would crash when making the TV into full screen. You need to do something pretty bad to crash WinXP these days.

The media center seems to be getting better with each new upgrade. I started using it about 5 months ago, and love it. Todd Lokken.
